ISLAM IS A WAY TO RIGHTEOUSNESS

Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Al Haram Mosque and Kaaba Saudi Arabia

Among all the favors and blessings that ALLAH Almighty has bestowed upon all humanity is that He gifted us with the born ability to acknowledge and recognize His existence. Though, it is not possible for human beings to get a detailed knowledge of ALLAH Almighty except through the revelation from Himself, ALLAH Almighty sent His Messengers to every nation for teaching and making aware the people about their only Creator Who they must worship. These Messengers also teaches people with details of how to worship ALLAH Almighty. On this basis of all the divine revelations have had the same objectives, which are:

  1. To affirm the Oneness of ALLAH Almighty – the praised and glorified ALLAH, and only worship Him alone.
  2. To affirm that ALLAH alone should be worshipped and not any other being should be worshipped along instead of Him or with Him.
  3. To safeguard the welfare of human and oppose evil and corruption.
  4. To invite the people towards religion Islam and to the highest level of moral values, virtue, and noble customs.

The ultimate goal of all Divine revelation and Message has always been the same: to guide people to ALLAH Almighty, to make people aware of Him, and to worship ALLAH alone.  Every Divine Message or revelation came to strengthen the meaning, and the following words or terms were repeatedly on the tongues of all the Messengers: “Worship

ALLAH Almighty, you have not any God other than Him.” This heavenly message was conveyed to the people of different periods by Prophets and Messengers which ALLAH Almighty sent to every nation. All of the Prophets and messengers came with this similar message. All the Divine revelation or Messages came to bring the life of all people into willing submission to ALLAH Almighty.

Humankind has passed through numerous different periods of guidance, misguidance, and deviation and integrity from the most primitive and ancient period to the heights of civilization.  Divine guidance of Islam accompanied humans all through this by always providing correct way of living life and the appropriate solutions and remedies regarding our confusions and problems.

Therefore a person should keep this in mind when asking for guidance to ALLAH Almighty:

1- Guidance of knowledge, wisdom and clarity to know and reach the truth and right way.

2- Make us to act upon the guidance and Islamic laws

3- Make us to remain steadfast on the guidance

4- Remove all obstructions and barriers that divert us from right path and guidance

5- Make one cautious about one’s own hard times and desperate need for guidance from ALLAH Almighty over and above all any other necessities.

10- Guide us towards the righteousness and towards the correct direction.

WORSHIP IN ISLAMIC VIEW

worship

The concept of worship (Ibadah) in Islam is misunderstood by lots of people including several Muslims. Worship is generally taken to mean performing ritualistic acts such as prayers (Namaz), fasting (Roza), charity (zakat), etc. This limited understanding of worship (Ibadah) is only one part of the meaning of worship (Ibadah) in Islam. That is why the traditional definition of worship in Islam is a complete definition that includes almost the whole thing in any individual’s activities.

In other words, worship is everything a person says or does for the pleasure of ALLAH Almighty. This, of course, includes rituals as well as beliefs, and personal contributions to the wellbeing of one’s fellow human-beings. Islam looks at the individual as an entire. He is required to submit himself completely to ALLAH Almighty, as the Holy Quran instructed the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to do:

Verse 6:162 and 163 of Holy Quran,

Say, “Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for ALLAH, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims.”

As a matter of fact Islam does not think much of simple rituals when they are performed mechanically and have no influence on one’s internal life.

Verse 2:177 of Holy Quran,

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in ALLAH, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveller, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfil their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

The deeds in the above verse (Ayat) are the deeds of righteousness and they are just a part of worship. It is value noting that even performing one’s responsibilities is considered a kind of worship. Kindness to members of one’s family is an act of worship (Ibadah) as when a person puts a piece of food in his spouse’s mouth. It is clear, from the preceding discussion that the concept of worship (Ibadah) in Islam is a comprehensive concept that includes all the positive activities of a person.

It regulates human life on all levels: individual, economic, social, political and spiritual. That is why Islam provides direction to the smallest details of one’s life on all levels. Thus following these details is following Islamic instructions in that exact area. It is a very encouraging element when one realizes that all his activities are considered by ALLAH Almighty as acts of worship.
